I’ve been thinking about adding a pergola to the entrance of my house, but I’m not sure whether to go with a wall-mounted one or a freestanding one. I really like the idea of a wall-mounted pergola because it feels like it could save some space, and I’d love to have a little more coverage right at the entrance. But I’m wondering if it would look odd or unbalanced, being attached to the wall. Does anyone here have experience with wall-mounted pergolas? How did it work out for you? I'd love some input!

Hey! I totally get your hesitation about a wall-mounted pergola. It’s a great choice for saving space and making your entrance look more elegant, though. We actually installed one last year, and it made a huge difference. Our house entrance now looks way more inviting. The key is in choosing the right design, so it doesn’t look like an afterthought.
If you're concerned about aesthetics, you could always consider pairing it with something like a pergola drop screen for a more refined look. It can help create a bit of privacy or shield from the elements, which is perfect for an entrance area. You can check out some designs here: https://closethedeal.co.uk/catalogs/pergola-drop-screen
We’ve found that it helps balance the space—especially when the pergola frame matches the exterior of your home. Also, if you have a smaller entrance area, the wall-mounted option can make the whole space feel bigger without overwhelming it.
